€26.4M to increase the integration of renewable energy sources in Europe
Until 2021, €26.4M will be invested in order to increase the integration of renewable energy sources in Europe. Of those, €20.0M will be funded by the European Commission. The goal of the European Commission is for at least 50% of the energy in Europe to come from renewable sources, mainly wind, solar and water. A total of 34 institutions will work towards the same goal and three of these are Portuguese – Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), EDP Distribuição and CNET – Centre for New Energy Technologies. Northern Portugal will have a real demonstration zone.
