Within the scope of the work developed by the TEC4ENERGY initiative, INESC TEC participated in the ENLIT Europe, a European discussion forum that aims to analyse, in an inclusive way, issues related to energy transition in Europe.
From November 30 to December 2, Milan hosted live sessions, interviews, panel discussions, networking meetings and display spaces, in parallel with presentations and exhibitions that took place online.
For three days, INESC TEC presented some of its competences in the energy area, as well as more recent technologies and projects - with an emphasis on the Laboratory of Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles. João Peças Lopes, coordinator of the TEC4ENERGY, and Bernardo Silva, David Rua and Gil Sampaio, researchers from INESC TEC's Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), attended the exhibition.
During the first day of the event, David Rua was also involved in the live sessions, leading the conference "Semantic Interoperability Layer", representing the Interconnect project, a €36M European initiative - led by INESC TEC and funded under the Horizon 2020 programme - that aims to develop and demonstrate advanced solutions for the digitalisation and interoperability of the electrical power system. ENLIT Europe commenced after the merger of two previously existing and leading energy initiatives - the European Utility Week and POWERGEN Europe -, thus establishing a community that advances the discussion on the future of emerging energy-related issues all year round. The main goal is to gather all stakeholders at an annual event in person, to explore current scenarios, draw attention to future opportunities and inspire the next generation to positively influence the efficient use of energy.
The next edition will take place from November 29 to December 1, 2022, in Frankfurt, Germany.
